shape book....

Matthew brought home a great shape book.
I typed the shape poems, and we are doing the shape for the theme. He also brought home a color one but we have not started working on that one yet.
Below are the pictures. If you are interested in any of the books shown in the blog please email me with the title of the book in the heading and I will send it to you. Lorenamaldo@yahoo.com

grants...

I feel very lucky to be able to apply for two grants during the school year. Once in the Fall and once in the Spring. This fall I got some manipulatives, puzzles, Handwriting Without Treas materials, books. So far the kiddos both in the class and itinerant are benefiting from it.

literacy activities......

Our amazing SLP does our literacy activity every other week. Two weeks ago we made a leaf man after we read Leaf Man for two weeks.
it was  great activity and the kids did a great job.

Today they did the Pooh and the Falling Leaves activity. Those also came out super cute.
Thanks Terry for sharing the with me so many years ago.

The kids are doing great with our literacy activities. I love seen how they begin to love books.

scarecrow...

A few weeks ago we made a scarecrow.
I got a set of 12 from Oriental Trading. this was great as all the parts were ready just to but together.

I did but the hair, hat and flower together. The kids had to glue everything on the plate.

The turned out super cute and look great on our farm board.

all about apples...

Matthew and Zachary (my twin boys) each brought home a great apple activity. We had done the apples by putting together strips of red paper so this two were great following activities to that activity.

Matthew brought home an apple book. Using that as a template I made my own.

I also got three apples, one per center group

Using written numbers, I had the kiddos guess how many seeds they will see in their apple. They each choose a number and wrote it on their first page.

Then we opened the apple and counted the seeds. We used the same numbers to match the seed amount to a written number,

In the last page we drew the amount of seeds we found.

The next day we did Zachary's activity.

I had cut the apple parts, the middle part and a leaf for each. The kiddos had to put it all together top, middle, and bottom.

They look amazing hanging from the ceiling.

I really want to thank Mrs. Park and Mrs. Garcia for lettingme copy their awesome class activities :)

the farm....

This week we worked on patterns and big/small.
The kiddos are really enjoying the new farm activities and the farm toys.
We made apples to hang from the ceiling (they came out great)

Pinterest has some great ideas fro fall and farm

Pattern

print from pinterets
I cut the bottom animals and had the kids
pick the correct from a field of two
the kid glue the correct one on the correct space

Big, Medium, Small

I had the kids sort them by size
some kids did all three
 some did two
and some did just one

Apples

long red strips of paper - each apple has 6-7 strips
pipe cleaner and a leaf
staple the strips together to form the bottom
when staple the top of the strips as well (creating a circle)
use a single hole puncher to open a hole,
put the pipe cleaner through and make a knot on the inside
then lace the leaf and bend the pipe cleaner

I have also been working on two different shape books and an apple book.
Pictures to come next week (I hope).
Have a great week.
